The Mountain State Conference on Disabilities Journey to the Top April 14-15, 2020 Canaan Valley Resort

The Mountain State Conference on Disabilities is hosted by disability partners across the state including the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities, the West Virginia Developmental Disabilities Council, Disability Rights of WV, and the West Virginia Autism Training Center at Marshall University.

The two-day virtual conference will provide cutting edge, best practice and evidence-based sessions for professionals while offering applied skill-based workshops for individuals on how to navigate through educational, medical, and other journeys they may experience.

Keynote Presenter: Anthony Ferraro

Anthony Ferraro was born blind with a genetic condition called Lebers Congenital Amaurosis. Today Anthony is 25 years old and refers to himself as a professional athlete, musician, and motivational speaker.

After wrestling for four years in high school, Anthony went on to wrestle for the College of New Jersey before starting Judo training. He is currently ranked the number one -73kg Paralympic Judo athlete in the United States.

In 2012, the documentary film maker Christopher Suchorsky began interviewing and filming Anthony's wrestling journey and life story. This film ultimately became know as "A Shot in the Dark". The film was released on Christmas Day 2018 and is now available for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime.
