- WVATS partnered with Humanware to provide a device demonstration at the Center for Excellence in Disabilities to interested individuals. The representative from Humanware demonstrated many devices designed for individuals who are blind or have vision impairments and/or learning disabilities.
- WVATS presented Assistive Technology and Emergency Preparedness for the Lewisburg Rehab Council Support Group in April. The group invited community members to attend this meeting and representatives from the Lewisburg Fire Department, Police Department, the Greenbrier County Emergency Management Agency, local nursing homes and other interested community members attended. WVATS discussed assistive technology and what communities need to know about including devices in evacuation plans.
- WVATS presented an overview of assistive technology devices and services to the Ronceverte Seneca Health Center in April. WVATS and Seneca Health are now planning a workshop for Greenbrier county agencies and community members to learn more about assistive technology devices and services.
- WVATS presented at the 2009 Gateways Transition Conference April 23 – 24 at Stonewall Resort. The presentation entitled, "Assistive Technology – Is It In Your Plan" focused on including assistive technology devices and services in transition plans for high school students.
- WVATS presented a demonstration of augmentative communication devices to the WV Schools for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing May 1. This demonstration allowed a teacher and speech pathologist learn about equipment that is available for students and tried some of the devices out with a student.
- WVATS will present at the West Virginia Community Action Partnership 2009 Educational Conference on May 6, 2009.
- WVATS will be co-presenting "The 411 on 211" at the Covenant House in Charleston, WV on May 13, 2009. The workshop will provide information about answering calls, providing information and locating resources in your community and state. WVATS will also co-present this workshop on August 19, 2009 in Martinsburg.
- WVATS will present "Fair Housing Advocacy Training" to the Direct Action Welfare Group (DAWG) on May 26, 2009.
- WVATS was selected to co-present "Fostering Excellence in Serving Persons with Disabilities: Information and Referral and Assistance Skills and Resources" at the 2009 National AIRS conference to be held in Reno, NV May 31- June 3.
- WVATS will present "My Community, My Choice, My Right" to the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston Rural Ministry Conference on June 1, 2009.
- WVATS will present "I Want To Go Home!" at the Summer Institute on Aging on June 2, 2009.
