Fine Arts Program Events:

Introduction to Painting Class

Date and Time: March 26, 2010 12 P.M. - 3 P.M.

Location: Monongalia Art Center

Event Description: This event is open to the general public

Greg Siegwart was born in Wheeling, WV. Greg is a West Virginia native. His interest in oil painting was inspired by paintings by his great grandfather, Joshif Siegwart, a Swiss immigrant. By the age of 10, Siegwart picked up a brush and his love of oil painting began. Over forty years of painting have given him the life lessons to see learn and develop his craft. While the art world has always been a part of Siegwart’s life, it remained a hobby for much of the time as he maintained and managed a career in telecommunications.

Following a debilitating accident in 2000, Siegwart found oil painting to be his outlet. This therapeutic refuge has become his life. A self-taught artist, Siegwart has progressed into a fine art painter. He has completed numerous commissioned pieces, including portraits, still life, wild life, landscapes, fantasy and animal portraits. His work has been sold throughout the United States. Siegwart has taught oil painting and art appreciation privately and is currently an instructor of oil painting at the Oglebay Institute Stifel Fine Art Center in Wheeling, WV. Greg is a gallery exhibitor and member of ArtWorks Around Town in Wheeling.

If you would like more information about the class please contact Helen Panzironi at 304-293-4692 ext 1154. Space is limited to ten students.
