In 1992, the Breaking New Ground Resource Center (BNG) distributed an application for the "Barn Builders Network." The idea was to create an informal, voluntary peer support network of farmers and ranchers with disabilities from across the nation. The list would include people willing to become personally involved in the lives of others who might benefit from their own experiences.
The directory contains information from 102 farmers and 35 caregivers representing 23 states and Canada who have volunteered to be of assistance, if called upon.

JAN is a free consulting service designed to increase the employability of people with disabilities by providing individualized worksite accommodations solutions, providing technical assistance regarding the ADA and other disability- related legislation and educating callers about self-employment options.
JAN also offers information about the Small Business and Self-Employment Service, which provides information, counseling and referrals about self-employment and small business ownership opportunities for people with disabilities.

The National AgrAbility Project is a cooperative project involving 30 states and is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to help establish education and assistance programs for agricultural workers with disabilities.
The project brings together rehabilitation professionals and Cooperative Extension Service Educators within each state to provide services directly to the farmer agricultural worker or a family member who is disabled.

The National Center on Accessibility specifically focuses on accessibility for parks and recreational facilities. It has a 24-hour hotline for technical assistance and publishes a newsletter on outdoor accessibility issues. In conjunction with the National Park Service, the Center also conducts a training program, addressing specific accessibility issues through four different four-day courses held in locations across the country.
