National Disability Employment Awareness Month focuses on access and equity

Raise awareness and celebrate workers with disabilities this October.

Tuesday, October 3, 2023

Each October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), which educates about disability employment topics while celebrating the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities.

In keeping with this year's NDEAM theme of "Advancing Access and Equity", the West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities (WVU CED) is getting involved in an interactive way. Work Incentive Planning and Assistance (WIPA) Program Manager Jennifer Tenney will be sharing some Spotlights on Employment through Facebook Live every Wednesday in October at 1:00 p.m. EST. Viewers are encouraged to engage with the livestreams by asking disability employment related questions in the comments sections. Jennifer will answer questions during the October 25 livestream.

Facebook Live Spotlights on Employment topics and schedule (all will be at 1:00 p.m.):

Wednesday, October 4 - SSDI Work Incentives
Wednesday, October 11 - SSI Work Incentives
Wednesday, October 18 - Assets and Resources
Wednesday, October 25 - Calculus with the CWIC + questions and answers
